I heard a particular term used to describe the fighting technique in which the attacker or defender uses objects in their immediate surroundings to defend themselves. (Similarly to Jason Bourne, Michael Weston [of USA Network's "Burn Notice"], MacGyver and sometimes Jackie Chan)
I can't recall the term; does anyone know what I'm referring to?
What is the technical name for the fighting technique in which you objects as improvised weapons to defend?
It sounds like you are talking about weapons of opportunity. There is no specifically named technique for it. Mainly you just pick up an object and, if you have trained in a martial art that uses weapons, you use whatever technique best fits the object. If you have no training, then you just figure out what would work. Most of is semi-instinctive. If you pick up a pool cue, you don鈥檛 need training to know you can swing it like a base ball bat or thrust like a spear. I hope this helps.

What is a good name for a "dockside pub" in a small fishing community?
I want the name to be followed by "Dockside Pub" in the same way that Applebee's is followed by "neighborhood grille and bar"
This is an alcohol only pub, no food will be served.
It is a blue collar community. The tourists are of the retired fisherman variety in a part of the state with a lot of arts and crafts attractions. It just only 2 miles downstream from a major tourist attraction, Branson and the Branson Landing riverwalk. We are looking for a 'catchy' name. We considered the name 'Happy Hooker', a play on words for fisherman but the connotation scared us off. Any suggestions?

What is it the name of this electric transportation?
My father is interested in discovering the name of a personal transportation device. This two wheel vehicle stands upright and the speed is controlled by the degree to which the person leans forward. The vehicle is slowed down by leaning backwards. I remember seeing this type of transportion on the beach (they're a great wy to cruise the boardwalk) Any ideas?

What is the name of the item that is used to contact your Slayer Master in RuneScape?
I have just rejoined members and forgotten what item is needed to contact Slayer Masters. I know it's like a crystal ball but what is it called and where can I buy it from?
I disposed mine before I left members last year.
What is the name of the item that is used to contact your Slayer Master in RuneScape?
The item used to contact slayer masters during an assignment is called an Enchanted Gem. Enchanted Gems can be bought from all of the slayer masters. Their locations are as follows:
Turael/Spria*, Burthorpe
Mazchna, Canifis
Vannaka, Edgeville Dungeon
Chaelda, Zanaris (The Lost City)
Sumona, Pollnivneach
Duradel/Disciple of the Devourer*, Shilo Village
*During the While Guthix Sleeps quest, two of the Slayer Masters, Tureal and Duradel, die. Upon their deaths, two new Slayer Masters replace their positions. The replacements Spria and Disciple of the Devourer perform exactly the same roles as their formers, this includes selling the enchanted gems.

What is the name of the flight information board found in older airports?
I'm looking for what this board would be called? It's a listing of all flight information, as it updates each individual listing cycles through all the possible choices until it hits the correct one, all with an audible 'clicking' noise. An example can be found in the Tom Hanks film "The Terminal". Any help would be appreciated.

What is the name of the painting with a curly-maned lion and other animals in bright colors?
I thought it was called Peaceable Kingdom? It's like the 19-th century "Peaceable Kingdom" with the lion and the lamb, but modern. I don't know what medium it is or the name of the artist?
What is the name of the painting with a curly-maned lion and other animals in bright colors?
Edward Hicks American, 1780-1849. Circa 1848 for this painting - so that's 19th century.
Link below includes the picture and this description:
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb [center], And the leopard shall lie down with the kid [center foreground]; And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them [lower right corner]. And the cow and the bear shall feed [next to the tree in the upper right];鈥nd the lion shall eat straw like the ox [right center]. And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice鈥檚 den [lower left]."
Very nice background - smooth and soaring, I think.
See if it's the one you were thinking of!
Reply:Have you tried Laura Regan. She's a wildlife artist and children's book illustrator. I think it's still called "Peaceable Kingdom."

What's the name of the womens hairstyle where hair is long on sides/back, but cut straight along front?
Looks kind of like an ancient egyptian hairstyle. Basically the hair around the head is long, straight and cut evenly, maybe a little past shoulder length, but in the front right above the eyebrows it's cut in a straight line so the person can see forward. So basically like a mop, with one section of hair cleanly cut out.

What is the name of my hearing condition?
I am a 25 year old male. My hearing is fine- and everything sounds just as loud today as it has any other day of my life. My problem is that for the last decade or so I have been having difficulty distinguishing between sounds. I hear a word and it sounds like gibberish because it could be any number of other words- or I listen to any given song and cannot tell at all what is being sung about (this happens with most songs for me even if they are turned up). I don't think my problem is ear related as much as it is brain related due to my inability to make sense of the information coming in. I also have trouble hearing what specifically someone is saying if there is background noise due to the conflict of sounds. Is there a name for what I have- and if so, could someone post a link so I can read up on it? Thanks.
What is the name of my hearing condition?
Hello; I am an Audiologist.
There are two likely possibilities:
1) High-frequency sensorineural hearing loss. Yes, you PERCEIVE that your hearing has not changed, yet hearing loss typically fades so gradually that it is imperceptible, and what your hear still seems 'normal' to you. You can still distinguish tonal changes with a mild-to-moderate degree of loss, but the unvoiced consonant (p, h, s, f, th, t,) sounds are not heard. In quiet, and especially with people you know well, your brain will be able to fill in the blanks of what your ear misses. But in noisy/group environments or with people who have a different accent, you will find it more difficult to guess at what has been said.
2) Auditory Processing Disorder- This is when the ears do have normal sensitivity, but the brain pathways are not able to effectively process what is heard. This most often is noticed in grade school, typically as difficulty following multi-step directions and distinguishing letter sounds in phonics/spelling, as well as others. Many of these children are misdiagnosed as ADD/ADHD (so it is not surprising that someone else suggested it). It is also seen in people who have had a stroke or other forms of brain damage/injury.
The best thing to do is to start with a comprehensive Audiological examination to assess your hearing acuity. If that is determine to be within normal limits, you can ask about an Auditory Processing assessment. Not all hearing centers do this, and many insurance companies do not cover it. If you live near a university or hospital with an Audiology program, you might want to go there.
Feel free to contact me with any additional questions. Note that I can not respond to you via Y!A because you do not allow email. If you elect to change that option, make sure that you verify your address with Y!A, or else they still will not allow me to respond. OR you could simply include your email address in the body of your note to me and I will respond directly.
Reply:Make an appointment with an audiologist you may have a slight hearing loss .I know exactly what you mean about interpreting stuff , I have had the same sensation and the audiologist where I work said I my hearing was at the lower end of a normal range , even that is enough to make it tricky to 'get' everything.Mine was due to middle ear congestion -allergies-which I managed to clear with bisolvon , an OTC product from chemist. The ears not the allergies !!
Your comment about conflict of sounds due to background noise is a classic indication for mild hearing loss .. A doctor could also rule out neural problems.
Reply:Your hearing defect is TONE DEAFNESS because you hear and cannot understand. I dont know how it is to be corrected but refraining from taking intoxicated liquor or caffeine. I have the same problem but it started when a young girl.
Reply:have you considered that you might have attention deficit disorder? i have ADD and i experience the same symptoms you just described. in particular when you said "it sounds like gibberish because it could be any number of other words" - thats classic ADD. go here:
http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/MSD...
and in the list of characteristics you will notice that the third one is:
"Misinterpreting language or having difficult understanding what is said; hearing sounds, words, or sentences imperfectly."
so when you are listening to music and you understand all the words but just can't seem to "get it", or you just can't make out the first couple words a person is saying until they've repeated the sentence at least three times, thats one of the more annoying parts of having ADD.

What is the offical name for the critical radius in which rings can form a moon?
I think it's called the Rouch radius. Anything within the Rouch radius will fall back to a planet but anything at the rouch radius will form a moon.
Can someone please confirm my postulate?
What is the offical name for the critical radius in which rings can form a moon?
It's called the Roche limit. (Check the spelling; I've always seen it as "Roche" since I first an across the term 40 years ago.) A planet can actually have a moon within the Roche limit because Roche (after whom it's named) assumed that the materials forming the moon had no tensile strength but were held together by their gravitational attraction. He then calculated how close the moon would have to be to its primary for the tidal forces of the primary to prevail over the gravitational attraction of the moon's matter. He then expressed the limit in terms of the radius of the primary. There is no constant Roche limit as the size and denisty of the primary affect where the Roche limit is.
A planet can have a small moon within its Roche limit because the cohesiveness (stickiness? Gluiness?) of the small satellite becomes more significant that its gravitational attraction. Saturn's rings are well within the planet's Roche limit and so they can't form into a satellite. The Earth's Roche limit is about 18,000 miles.
Reply:In complex analysis, Rouché's theorem tells us that if the complex-valued functions f and g are holomorphic inside and on some closed contour C, with |g(z)| %26lt; |f(z)| on C, then f and f + g have the same number of zeros inside C, where each zero is counted as many times as its multiplicity. This theorem assumes that the contour C is simple, that is, without self-intersections.

Reply:It's actually Rouche's theorem, and it's a complex one. It varies based on the size of the planet, the planet's rotation and revolution velocities, and any other gravitational force in the vicinity (i.e. other moons, planets, it's star, etc.) For instance, Saturn and Uranus still have rings because their rotation speed does not lend well to making moons with that debris.
Can someone please confirm my postulate?

What is the best name brand of quality Triple Sec to buy?
I've tried Rose's Triple Sec, any other brands of better/equal quality?
What is the best name brand of quality Triple Sec to buy?
I believe that Triple Sec is one of those cordials that are most popular from brands such as Hiram-walker and dekuyper. Generics are the way to go there.
Now if you are looking for something a little higher up on the class scale, use a different orange liqueur. Try Grand Marnier or Cointreau. Bothy are very tasty. Beware though, only Cointreau will keep a consistant color as triple sec did, as grand marnier has an orange hue due to the cognac used in it.
Reply:If you go with a name brand you can't go wrong. They are all pretty much the same. If nothing else, buy the most expensive. It won't run you more than 7 or 8 bucks. But if you want quality, pick up a bottle of Cointeau. Not cheap, but doesn't taste cheap either. Makes a great Margarita. Good luck and enjoy my friend.
Reply:If you want to stick to Triple-Sec instead of a high-end orange liqueur like Grand Marnier, etc., use DeKuyper or Hiram Walker but get the higher proof bottlings.
Look for 60 proof instead of the ususl 30pf.
It'll give your drink a little extra kick and won't cost a fortune.

What is a good name to call my pet photography buisness?
If it was only going to be dogs, you could try something like Paws for Pics (Pause for Pics) which is kinda saying to stop and take some pics.
Or...maybe The Petography Studio?

Where did the last name Ebert come from?
I have been wondering what country my last name is from.
Where did the last name Ebert come from?
Here in Germany the last name (Nachname)
Ebert is very common.
Even a President Of The German Reich
was named Friedrich Ebert.
So I suppose you`ll find your ancestors
in Deutschland, or Austria, or Switzerland.
(...maybe in Namibia)

Reply:Ebert is common in the germanic countries, and if you throw in the French Hebert, a real possibility, you've only narrowed thing down to western Europe, roughly. I mention this alternate possiblility because my own germanic last name has changed its spelling and pronunciation 3 or 4 times in the late 18th to early 20th centuries.
