What happens to domain name and website when hosting company closes down?
Hello,

First check at http://www.whois.sc following:

1. Name of ICANN Registrar

2. Details in Admin Contact details

If admin contact details are yours, then approach Registrar directly and ask them to provide you control panel. They will help you for gain control on domain name.

If admin details are not yours, then it is bit difficult for you to prove that domain is owned by you.

Still contact registrar and ask if they can help you in this matter. They may ask you to provide few legal documentation and some other proof to give you the control of domain.

Regards,

Vinay

Reply:you can go to the domain name registration authorities as long as u legally still own a domain and your provider has gone under or refuses to release your domain name for transfer, or that your domain has run out and someone else has registered the name in "bad faith" IE bribing you for the domain offering it to you for a ridiculous amount of money
Reply:Check http://who.is And See Domain Registerer If It Same As Company Name So You'll Lost It But If It's Different Than Company Name You Won't Lose It But You Have To Connect It With The New Hosting By Editing DNS Settings From The Domain Registerer . Website Will Be Lost In Both Situations .
Reply:For your domain you should contact ICAAN, the authority for domain registration. For your website, you should have done a backup which can be then put on another server.
