What is the proper name for the caker portioner tool?

you put it on a cake and it leaves slight lines to show where to cut. i am thinking of buying 1 4 my mum for her birthday, but i dont know where i can find one or what it is called.

What is the proper name for the caker portioner tool?
I never knew they had one, I've always just cut it; if the pieces are even then lucky everyone, but if not sorry.
Reply:I would just call it a cake slicer, didn't know it had an official name!
Reply:A cake portioner is actually what you call them. My aunt does wedding, birthday, special occasion cakes for a living. She uses the double sided ones like on the link below. Each side gives the cut lines for different portions or slices per cake.

Hope this helps you find one for your Mum!
Reply:I think Lakeland will have it; they have a website where you can order. Lakeland have lots and lots of useful cooking aids - and lots of useless ones too like 'cake portioners'! Do you think your mum really needs one or would a bunch of flowers be better? Anyway, have a look through Lakeland's site and you may find some better ideas.....
Reply:Don't you think she will think you think she's a bit daft needing a caker portioner lol. maybe she want's bigger or smaller slices Iv'e never heard of a caker portioner lol tool ?????? Get her a nice cake slicer maybe those that look like a trowel you can get fancy ones from good shop's.
Reply:Torting Knives
Reply:Oooo I bet she would be so grateful....don't bother...buy her a nice bunch of flowers instead...its one of those gadgets what will stay at the back of a drawer forever...and I don't know what they are called.
