What is the name and reason you that Injection at school in your left arm?

My son is in year 8 at school and is worried about the big injection you have in your left arm. I carnt remember the name of the injection or the reason they have it. Can you help?

What is the name and reason you that Injection at school in your left arm?
Its the TB vaccination

to protect against TB incase its ever contracted

I had mine not soo long ago, tell him it doesnt hurt and make sure he doesnt pick it otherwise it'll leave an unsightly scar on his arm..

Good luck
Reply:It's TB. First they give everyone an injection that is made up of 6 needles which are all in a ring, this is given on your left arm (underarm) I think it is called a booster. This is meant to give an indication as to whether he will need the actual TB injection at the top of his left arm. They will give it a week and it all depends on whether the ring injection is still visable or not. Then they give the injection at the top of the arm which leaves the big mark. This is nothing to worry about and he will have all his friends around him so he won't be alone. The people that do this injection are very experienced and will take extra care if he is worried about it. It doesn't hurt and it is over in a second. If you are worried try not to show this on front of him as that may make him worse.
Reply:When I was in year 8 I had the Heaf test, followed by the BCG, but I thought they weren't giving the BCG in schools anymore? I could be wrong. The only other infection is the Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio school leaving booster, but I think the tetanus might not be given anymore, there was some concern over it, in fact. I'm not even sure...but anyway the school leaving booster is not given till year 10/11

BCG is a vaccine against TB
Reply:Its TB and it really isnt that bad. If I remember they give you a tester jab on your forearm about a week before to see your reaction to it.
Reply:The BCG vaccination? It's in year 8 or 9.
Reply:tuberculosis i think or hepatitis C

Reply:well find out they are injecting your child here thats your responsibility too.
Reply:MMR(measles, mumps, and rubella)
Reply:it's TB but i thought they'd stopped giving it because britain is free from it or something.
