In the English Patient...Almasy told Katherine he wanted to own the THE SUPRASTERNAL NOTCH鈥?br>
the area below the chin. So what is the name of that area above waist where the spine curves inward?
What is the name of the area above the curve of the spine above the waist called?
The Spinal column (or vertebral column) extends from the skull to the pelvis and is made up of 33 bones called verebrae.
They are grouped as you can see in the diagram, into cervical (7 bones) - Thoracic (12 bones) - Lumbar (5 or 6 bones) - Sacral ( 5 bones which are fused) - and the Coccyx (3 bones).
The curved area is the Thoracic.

Reply:lumbar region.. i'll admit, it's not nearly as romantic sounding as suprasternal notch..
Reply:lower back?
Reply:As well as being the lumbar region I think there is also an expression 'the small of the back'.
Reply:ITS YOUR LUMBER REGIEON
Reply:The spine is made of three 'regions'. The lower back is the lumbar region, the middle and upper back is the thoracic region and the neck is the cervical spine. The area you mean is the thoracic spine.
